i watched this as a silent film because the speakers in this place don't seem to be cooperating right now. definitely reminiscent of guy bourdin [whom i still adoreee].

in the recent issue of frank, mr. rollins writes:
who comes to mind: ian mackaye, miles davis, tony alva, henry miller, martin luther king jr. --> what comes to mind: the civil rights movement, independent music and film, & self-owned companies. my heroes spent little time questioning authority or tradition and more time making change by being true to themselves and going their own way. by doing so, they provided inspiration for others.
i learn through a process of confronting myself as often as possible. this has lead to travel all over the world and at times, some intense situations. the lessons learned and the strength attained is always worth it.
when i left washington dc to join black flag i really had no choice but to start figuring things out for myself. there were many bumps along the way, that's part of the trip.
i'm so thrilled that he mentions not only davis but also miller. i just finished reading a short miller piece called REFLECTIONS. it's a book of some stories he told people recorded by his friend/housekeeper, twinka. short stories of only the most important topics in life. and, in it, he mentions another few greats including nin.
ok, i'll stop the celebrity chain there and just say that: fuck i wish i could've been at his dinner table; him in his pajamas, me tested and amused.

so on his nightmare through the evening fog
flits the squab fiend o'er fen, and lake, and bog;
seeks some love-wilder'd maid with sleep oppress'd,
alights, and grinning sits upon her breast.
[fuseli]
—such as of late amid the murky sky
was mark'd by fuseli's poetic eye;
whose daring tints, with shakspeare's happiest grace,
gave to the airy phantom form and place.—
back o'er her pillow sinks her blushing head,
her snow-white limbs hang helpless from the bed;
her interrupted heart-pulse swims in death.
o'er her fair limbs convulsive tremors fleet,
start in her hands, and struggle in her feet;
in vain to scream with quivering lips she tries,
and strains in palsy'd lids her tremulous eyes;
in vain she wills to run, fly, swim, walk, creep;
the will presides not in the bower of sleep.
—on her fair bosom sits the demon-ape
erect, and balances his bloated shape;
rolls in their marble orbs his gorgon-eyes,
and drinks with leathern ears her tender cries.
[darwin]
nightmara. not uncommon at all.

some may think strongly that it is foolish for me to do so, but i forgive *you* ... because, simply, i cannot not forgive you. merely due to the fact that we are all both of the following: the opposite of evil and evil itself.. a beautiful motherfucking fusion of the two.
"she confuses the identities of the characters, including her own, to show the similarities between heroes and villains and suggests that such distinctions ... are pointless. she underlines the fact that, as humans, we all share similar traits and emotions, vulnerability, violence, vindictiveness, solidarity, love and hate."
