///henry///

in the recent issue of frank, mr. rollins writes:

who comes to mind: ian mackaye, miles davis, tony alva, henry miller, martin luther king jr. --> what comes to mind: the civil rights movement, independent music and film, & self-owned companies. my heroes spent little time questioning authority or tradition and more time making change by being true to themselves and going their own way. by doing so, they provided inspiration for others.

i learn through a process of confronting myself as often as possible. this has lead to travel all over the world and at times, some intense situations. the lessons learned and the strength attained is always worth it.

when i left washington dc to join black flag i really had no choice but to start figuring things out for myself. there were many bumps along the way, that's part of the trip.

i'm so thrilled that he mentions not only davis but also miller. i just finished reading a short miller piece called REFLECTIONS. it's a book of some stories he told people recorded by his friend/housekeeper, twinka. short stories of only the most important topics in life. and, in it, he mentions another few greats including nin.

ok, i'll stop the celebrity chain there and just say that: fuck i wish i could've been at his dinner table; him in his pajamas, me tested and amused.
